In a recent incident reported on 23rd June 2019, Sunday Morning that made a breaking news in Delhi's most posh area Vasant Apartment, Vasant Vihar has received a shocking experience by its residents, first of its kind since the society is formed where the elderly couple Vishnu Mathur, 78 years and his wife Shashi Mathur, 75 years were staying and leading a peaceful life after their retirement from government employment. Vishnu had retired from CGHS office where Shashi retired from a Civic Body. They had a recent medical treatment done for Shashi making her bedridden due to bones surgery. Vishnu on the other hand had also stopped moving out of the flat reportedly due to his medical condition and ill health on aging. They had been living in Vasant Apartments from almost 18 years.
The couple lost their son in 1999 in reportedly road accident.
Their caretaker Khushboo, 22years was staying with them as nursing attendant who was hired for medical assistance at their home by the couple. The entrance to the flats were quite friendly and the assailants is supposed to have messed up room contents to make it look like a robbery.
The neighbor are under investigation by the police officials as it is supposed that the call was made by the caretaker while the incident took place to police but failed to identify her correct address where police patrolling was unable to reach the right flat during night hours.
The entrance to the society have private CCTV cameras at various locations by residents and is now being tracked to find the evidence to scale the accused.
It is reported that CCTV footage revealed there were two people arrived on motorbike, supposedly a male with a female who had covered faces while entering the flat entrance and had different clothes while they exit the flat with covered faces making it prime suspect on planned execution.
The police had reportedly arrested caretaker Khushboo's friend and the matter is under investigation.
DCP Devendra Arya mentioned that they were informed about the incident at 08:50 am by neighbour. Babli, a domestic helper that came to their flat in morning had found their door open and Khushboo on the floor with blood around and the couple dead on their bed and alerted the neighbour.
Residents and friends who were frequent visitors to the flat were questioned under investigation by the officials and no one is given a clearance as of now as per officials.
The police is gaining detailed evidence to clarify the suspect involvement in the case who is supposed to be the friend of caretaker who may have taken help of his female companion in this incident.
The CCTV footage, mobile handsets, fingerprints, postmortem reports and witness statements are being detailed to sustain adequate evidence on the incident. The suspect is now under arrest by the Police as reported by media while neighbour was retained for some long time for further investigation.
The couple is now survived by their married daughter who reportedly lives in East of Kailash. Delhi who used video calls to communicate with her parents.
Local residents have positive feedback on couple as they used to blend well in society and used to greet everyone they meet and don't know much about caretaker as she was supposed to be hired from an agency as per official.
Maniram, who is working in society to iron clothes reported that the couple had been very jolly and is not expected to have any issues with anyone as they were never seen in loud voice with anyone.
The society had this kind of experience for the very first time since inception while another case of more than 100 car batteries stolen in single night was reported from the same locality in the recent past and lot much is to be done for security of local residents by the authorities.
RWA president Mr. David had been active since his assigned roles and is alerting authorities on security aspect of the society and requested regular patrolling and neighbor hood watch systems are being strengthened.
